GT Racer Akshay Gupta Makes History as Second Indian Driver in Dubai 24 Hours Race

New Delhi, Jan 12 (NationPress) Indian GT Racer Akshay Gupta is all set to make his mark as the second Indian driver to take part in the Dubai 24 Hours race. Following in the footsteps of the acclaimed Indian actor Ajith Kumar, who previously garnered attention for his return to professional racing at this prestigious event, Gupta is ready to shine.

The 2025 race will feature a remarkable lineup of 65 cars across 6 diverse classes. This event will

celebrate the 20th edition of the 24H Dubai, taking place at the renowned Dubai Autodrome.

Gupta will represent the German team AsBest Racing, driving a Seat Cupra Leon TCR car in the TCE Class, where competition remains limited. His car is set to start from pole position, with a total of 3 entries in the class.

The 32-year-old driver will be joined by an international team including Junichi Umemoto from Japan, Lutz Obermann from Germany, Henrik Sandell from Sweden, and Nadir Zuhour from the UAE, all competing in car number 102. The race will unfold in a non-stop format over 24 hours, with drivers taking turns in a relay style.

In reflecting on his participation, Akshay Gupta stated, “I have aspired to compete in this race since 2016. After receiving a call from AsBest on Monday regarding my availability, I eagerly accepted the chance. The TCR car represents a significant upgrade from the production vehicles I race in the Nürburgring Endurance Championship. They possess greater power, reduced weight, and enhanced downforce. Furthermore, I have yet to experience a full 24-hour race, making this a series of firsts for me as I prepare for the upcoming 2025 NLS championship scheduled for the end of March!”

Akshay Gupta stands out as a pioneering Indian racing driver and tech entrepreneur who has triumphed over challenges to attain success in both fields. Born with clubfoot, he has surmounted physical obstacles to excel in motorsports. His racing journey commenced in 2010, with significant achievements including the title of Vice Champion in the VT2-F Class of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie in 2024, driving the Hyundai i30N (2 race wins and 4 podium finishes), and securing the Runner-up position at the 2013 National Championship season finale at the Buddh International Circuit in a Toyota.

Currently, Akshay competes in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, serving as an inspiration for a new wave of Indian drivers. His tenacity, perseverance, and passion for racing establish him as a prominent figure in Indian motorsports.
