New Delhi, May 26 (NationPress) Tom Moody, the former head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad, has expressed concern over several bowlers from the Gujarat Titans losing their form at a crucial juncture of the IPL 2025 season. He emphasized that the team has struggled to establish effective bowling partnerships.

During their match at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, GT faced a significant defeat against the struggling Chennai Super Kings (CSK), losing by 83 runs. Apart from Prasidh Krishna, who managed to take 2 wickets for 22 runs in his four overs, the other bowlers had economy rates that exceeded double digits.

"It is troubling that many of their bowlers are faltering at such a key moment. As they approach the finals, having full confidence in your bowling attack is vital; players should be ready to take responsibility rather than looking over their shoulders," Moody stated.

"Currently, it seems only one bowler is performing well, while the others are still seeking their rhythm. I might be a bit harsh on Sai Kishore, as he has shown consistency, but his efforts are overshadowed by the collective inability to build essential partnerships with the ball," he added during an interview with ESPNcricinfo.

To tackle GT’s bowling challenges, Moody suggested that the team, led by Shubman Gill, might benefit from opening the bowling with left-arm spinner Sai Kishore. "I wonder if they should consider rearranging their bowling strategy," he remarked.

"Trying something unconventional, like starting with Sai Kishore for an over or two, could provide a unique advantage as a bowling unit," he proposed.

Moody concluded by stating that it is not the right time for GT to panic in their IPL 2025 journey. "Players should maintain a free mindset, without dwelling on past performances or worrying about potential future failures," he stated.

"It's essential to preserve confidence and the culture established within the team. Celebrating achievements and keeping morale high is crucial, especially since there are many fatigued players facing mental exhaustion. Attention should be directed towards maintaining a positive outlook for the upcoming challenges," he added.

"For all teams at this stage, it's not a time to hit the panic button but rather a moment to reflect on what they are doing well. Focus on those strengths and quietly address any gaps without drawing public attention, whether in team meetings or through media interactions. It's about reassuring players individually while pointing out areas needing slight improvements," he concluded.

Point of View
