Guardiola Displays Six Fingers in Reaction to Liverpool Fans' 'You're Getting Sacked' Chant

Liverpool, Dec 2 (NationPress) In the midst of Manchester City's challenging streak, Liverpool fans aimed jibes at City manager Pep Guardiola, chanting You're getting sacked in the morning as the reigning champions suffered a 2-0 defeat at Anfield.
In response, Guardiola reminded both sets of fans of City's recent successes by holding up six fingers at full time, symbolizing the number of Premier League titles he has clinched.
“All the stadiums want to sack me; it began at Brighton!” Guardiola, who recently signed a two-year contract extension until 2027, stated to Sky Sports following the loss on Sunday night.
“Perhaps they have a point given the results we’ve seen. I didn’t foresee this at Anfield. They only began their chants at 2-0; perhaps they should have sung it earlier. I didn’t anticipate it from Liverpool fans, but it’s part of the game, and I understand completely. We’ve had remarkable clashes in the past. I hold them in high regard,” he added.
Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool marked Manchester City's fourth consecutive league loss, a streak they haven’t faced since 2008. This recent downturn has seen them fall to fifth place in the Premier League, now trailing leaders Liverpool by 11 points.
This marks the first instance in Guardiola's managerial journey where he has faced four consecutive league defeats. Across all competitions, City's winless run has now extended to seven games, dating back to October 26, when they achieved a 1-0 victory over last-placed Southampton.
Despite the ongoing struggles, Guardiola expressed a strong desire to remain at Manchester City, emphasizing his belief that his squad will soon break the winless streak.
“First, I want to commend Liverpool on their well-deserved victory. The initial 20 minutes were reminiscent of when we were at our peak. I observed Ruben's comeback and Nathan's excellent control over Salah,” Guardiola remarked.
“I want our team back. I wish for the players’ return. Three or four players have returned from injuries, and the sentiment here is that we’ve begun to build something meaningful.
“From this point, we will strive to build, secure victories, and restore our confidence. Then we will be a formidable team, and it’s fantastic. I’m here defending what we stand for because these players give everything they have.
“The best years I experienced in Manchester, and I need to find a solution to start winning matches. If we give up at Anfield and lack consistency, we walk away with disappointing results. The team was present throughout,” he concluded.
