Pep Guardiola Warns Against Dreaming of Premier League Triumph

Manchester, Dec 3 (NationPress) Pep Guardiola is navigating through unfamiliar challenges. With Manchester City enduring a streak of seven winless matches, the Spanish coach is not particularly hopeful about his team's prospects in the Premier League title race, asserting that it would be a serious mistake to focus on such ambitions."After the outcomes in recent matches, to aim for a significant goal [winning the Premier League] would be a grave error. We need to defeat a team that is close to us and leverage that to move nearer to the top four."

"We are not too far from being the second-best team in the league, but consistency is key. Liverpool has been exceptional as a team; we just have to battle and secure victories. We need to progress step by step," Guardiola mentioned during a press conference.

A run of six losses and a draw has followed a series of injuries to crucial players, tarnishing what had initially been a promising first three months for the defending champions. Guardiola remained firm that this City squad possesses the capability to perform at the same level they showcased last season when they remained unbeaten after December, had it not been for the injury woes.

"With the full squad available this season, we would be close to achieving the level we reached last season. In January, we will have internal discussions as it will depend on the circumstances we find ourselves in at that time," he remarked.

Guardiola also addressed his and the players' mindset before Wednesday's matchup against Nottingham Forest, stating that the team does not indulge in self-pity.

“We focus on the next challenge. [When we] accumulate victories, we concentrate on the next match, and it’s the same now - we strive to clear our minds,” he emphasized. “We will meticulously plan our approach. I can’t consider any other mindset. We do not wallow in self-pity; it is what it is. We must accept our situation," Guardiola concluded.
