New Delhi, April 8 (NationPress) - Glenn Phillips, the all-rounder for the Gujarat Titans, is optimistic that building some momentum during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 encounter with the Delhi Capitals is essential for the team to improve its standing this season. As the reigning champions of IPL 2022, GT has yet to secure a victory, and winning in New Delhi could be crucial for their points tally. “Like everyone else, I feel the same. We had a strong position in our last match, particularly against the Rajasthan Royals,” he remarked.

“Unfortunately, we didn't finish strong, so our focus must be on our processes, staying healthy, and performing well. Today marks a fresh start, and given the length of the tournament, if we can gain some momentum, everything should fall into place,” Phillips shared during a pre-match discussion with broadcasters.

The New Zealand cricketer emphasized the importance of concentrating on aspects he can control and finding motivation in smaller achievements during matches. “For me, it’s about maintaining focus on what I can manage. Cricket can be unpredictable. I try to focus on what brings me joy, like being part of the team, adhering to my routines, and celebrating incremental victories. I hope these elements keep me energized and motivated for the next challenge,” he explained.

Phillips also praised the new batting coach of GT, Matthew Hayden, for his process-oriented approach to mentoring the players. “He has been incredible. He was a player who prioritized processes during his playing career,” Phillips added.

“I aim to leverage his experience and adopt strategies that worked for him. Ideally, I’m looking to broaden my game. He is highly knowledgeable, and we share a lot of enjoyable moments off the field as well,” he concluded.

The Gujarat Titans will face the Delhi Capitals in Match 14 of IPL 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi this Wednesday.
