New Delhi, Sep 1 (NationPress) Harshal Patel, the Indian fast-bowler, has transitioned from Haryana to Gujarat for the upcoming 2025/26 domestic cricket season. Having participated in the 2010 Under-19 World Cup, he initially joined Haryana after struggling to secure a spot in the Gujarat cricket team. However, he has now chosen to return to his birthplace.
Anil Patel, the Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), confirmed to IANS that the 34-year-old Harshal will don the Gujarat jersey this season.
“Harshal expressed his desire to return to Gujarat 10 days ago. We gladly welcomed him back, as it is his home state. He developed his cricketing skills here, and it’s wonderful to have him back,” said Anil Patel.

A right-handed batsman and fast-medium bowler, Harshal made his T20I debut for India against New Zealand on November 19, 2021. Throughout his T20I career, he has participated in 25 matches, scored 77 runs, and taken 29 wickets. His last T20I appearance was against Sri Lanka on January 3, 2023, and he has not been selected since then.
In First-Class cricket, Harshal has played in 74 matches, accumulating 1524 runs with six half-centuries, achieving a top score of 83. He has captured 246 wickets, including 12 five-wicket hauls, and has taken 10 wickets in a single match on four occasions, with his best bowling figures being 8-34.
In List A matches, he has played 72 games, scoring 680 runs and securing 105 wickets, along with two five-wicket hauls.
Previously, Harshal represented Royal Challengers Bangalore (2012-2017 & 2021-2023), Delhi Daredevils (2018-2020), and Punjab Kings in 2024. Currently, he is with Sunrisers Hyderabad since the beginning of this year.
