New Delhi, May 7 (NationPress) Harshita Jakhar has accomplished a remarkable golden hat-trick during the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 cycling competitions, taking place at the Velodrome within the Indira Gandhi Stadium. This 18-year-old from Rajasthan has certainly made her debut at the KIYG unforgettable.
On Wednesday, she secured the gold medal in the 2km Individual Pursuit event, clocking a time of 02:35.178. The silver medal was claimed by Bhumika from Haryana, who finished with a time of 02:41.621.
“As I transition into senior competitions, I found the challenges manageable. However, I must say, the athletes at the Khelo India Games are quite skilled. This event has proven to be an excellent practice arena for me,” stated Harshita, a participant in the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports’ Target Asian Games Group (TAGG) program, as she spoke to SAI Media.
In the 2km Individual Pursuit, the bronze medal went to Suhani Kumari from Bihar. This event marked her third medal in cycling, having previously won silver in the 7.5km Scratch Race and a team silver in the girls’ sprint.
“I’ve had a great time competing here. The organization of the tournament has been commendable, and I’m striving to inspire Bihar to earn more medals through my performance,” expressed the 18-year-old Suhani, who is currently training at the Sports Authority of India National Centre of Excellence (NCOE) Patiala.
Meanwhile, Harshita’s cousin, Aditya, clinched gold in the 200m boys’ sprint, marking his second gold at KIYG 2025, having previously won gold in the 1km Time Trial.
