New Delhi, April 8 (NationPress) Hockey India has announced a 24-member roster for the Indian Women's Hockey Team, preparing for the upcoming tour of Argentina, scheduled in Buenos Aires from April 13 to 17. This four-match exposure series against Argentina's elite team is vital for India, coinciding with the upcoming FIH Hockey World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands in 2026, as well as the Asian Games.

The lineup features a blend of seasoned players and emerging talents, reflecting the progress of Indian women's hockey and the high expectations from head coach Sjoerd Marijne. For the athletes, this tour represents more than just preparation; it is a testament to their dedication.

Captain Salima Tete, a skilled midfielder, brings poise, intelligence, and vigor to India's midfield.

The much-anticipated return of forward Deepika, fresh from rehabilitation, is particularly significant. Her presence is likely to be welcomed by the Chief Coach, as she resumes her crucial role as India's primary drag-flick specialist in what is poised to be a pivotal year.

During her absence, players like Navneet Kaur, Manisha Chauhan, Udita, and Annu stepped up remarkably. Annu, in particular, demonstrated her outstanding drag-flicking abilities during the qualifiers. With Deepika rejoining the squad, the team appears significantly more balanced and formidable.
