Inauguration of the World Tennis Ball Premier League T10: A New Era for Cricket Enthusiasts

Jaipur (Rajasthan), November (NationPress) - To create opportunities for tennis ball cricketers, the World Tennis Ball Premier League (WTPL) T10 has been officially inaugurated here on Thursday. With 10 teams ready to participate in this 60-ball tournament, WTPL aspires to transform tennis ball cricket and identify promising talent across the country through trials in 60 cities. The launch event was honored by the presence of Aakash Chopra, a renowned former cricketer and commentator, Nikhil Chopra, another esteemed former cricketer and commentator, alongside former India cricketer Parvinder Awana and Anil Chaudhury, an international umpire and commentator.

The WTPL T10 is driven by founders Gaurav Sachdeva, a prominent entrepreneur with a long-standing love for cricket, and Rohit Bawri, an entrepreneur boasting over 18 years of experience in medicine, real estate, and exports. They are joined by co-founder Robin Chaudhary, who brings more than 25 years of cricketing expertise, including a background in first-class cricket.

Reflecting on the league, Gaurav Sachdeva remarked, "Our aim is to establish a platform where budding cricket talent receives the recognition it merits. The WTPL T10 is more than just a tournament; it is a celebration of cricket."

The event also included the teaser launch of the league, followed by the honoring of distinguished guests.

During the occasion, Aakash Chopra expressed his views, stating, "There are extraordinary talents in tennis ball cricket who truly amaze. If you set those players against professional cricketers, even with a standard cricket ball, they could surpass them. Cricket needs to flourish, and tennis ball cricket offers opportunities for all."

The league is set to occur at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat, tentatively scheduled for May-June 2025, featuring 10 teams: Rajasthan Kings, Bombay Bullets, Delhi Dynamos, Haryana Stallions, Punjab Royals, Chennai Strikers, Kolkata Warriors, Pune Falcons, Gujarat Jaguars, and UP Thunderbolts.

With a total of 28 matches, including 25 league games, two semifinals, and one grand final, WTPL promises to deliver electrifying cricket. The matches will be broadcasted live on television and digital platforms, ensuring maximum exposure for players and fans alike.

The organizers also presented their ambitious vision for the future, which includes plans to host an Asia Cup featuring tennis ball cricket and a potential bilateral series between India and Pakistan using a tennis ball, further broadening the sport's appeal.
