Beyond the relegation battle, the Netherlands and England fixtures serve as direct preparation for the 2026 FIH World Cup, which Belgium and the Netherlands will co-host from 15 to 30 August 2026. Playing in Rotterdam — a World Cup venue — gives India a rare chance to acclimatise to the conditions, crowd atmosphere, and pitch surfaces they will face at the tournament proper.

Chief coach Craig Fulton was direct about the dual purpose of the block. 'This Pro League block is a crucial part of our World Cup preparation.
