Male (Maldives), April 2 (NationPress) A well-known rivalry will unfold as the Indian U20 men's football team takes on Bangladesh in the final of the SAFF U20 Championship 2026, hosted at the National Stadium in Malé, Maldives, this Friday.

With both teams having engaged in fierce battles recently, including a 1-1 tie during the group stage, this final is set to deliver another thrilling match where mental strength and confidence may determine the victor.

Gawali expressed satisfaction with his team’s semi-final performance but noted areas needing improvement.

“I am proud of the team’s performance against Bhutan. However, there are aspects we can enhance. We were somewhat careless in the first half, but we rebounded strongly in the second half. I am very proud of how the boys united and performed,” he remarked.

India's attacking strategy will heavily rely on Omang Dodum, who shares the title of the tournament’s top scorer with three goals. Vishal Yadav and Rohen Singh Chaphamayum, each contributing two goals, have also played significant roles. With the competition for the top scorer title still open, this trio will be eager to shine. Dodum's impressive performances have garnered praise, yet Coach Gawali emphasizes the importance of collective development.
