Dubai, Sep 21 (NationPress) Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakaravarthy have made their return to the Indian squad as captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and opted to bowl first against Pakistan in a crucial Asia Cup Super Fours match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

The two sides faced off last week in a Group A match at the same venue, where India triumphed by seven wickets. However, the encounter stirred controversy as no Indian players extended a handshake to their Pakistani rivals, leading to discontent among the latter and nearly causing them to withdraw from the eight-team tournament.

Upon winning the toss, Suryakumar announced that Bumrah and Chakaravarthy replace Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana in the playing eleven. Additionally, Axar Patel is fit to play after sustaining a head injury during their previous Group A match against Oman in Abu Dhabi.

“The pitch looks promising, and there was some dew yesterday. Since the first round, we’ve been treating this as a knockout tournament; our approach hasn’t changed. The conditions were different in Abu Dhabi, but today feels like just another game,” he stated.

Pakistan’s captain Salman Agha mentioned that Faheem Ashraf and Hussain Talat are in place of Hasan Nawaz and Khushdil Shah in their lineup. “We would have bowled first as well. It’s a new game and a fresh challenge. The atmosphere is calm, but the pitch seems to be on the slower side. We aim to start strong with both bat and ball,” he expressed.

Similar to last week’s encounter, both Suryakumar and Salman refrained from shaking hands at the toss, while Andy Pycroft continues as the match referee for this clash in Dubai.
