“Having such a talented group with incredible skills always brings a smile to my face when I see them on the field. Their commitment and enjoyment while playing is what I appreciate most,” stated Suryakumar in a video shared on bcci.tv this Saturday.
Vice-captain Shubman Gill shared the enthusiasm within the Indian squad: “I’m really excited. This is an excellent group, and our performances in the T20s have been truly entertaining and impressive. I am thrilled to be part of it,” he remarked.
Leading pacer Jasprit Bumrah, returning to the T20I lineup after the triumphant 2024 T20 World Cup, expressed his eagerness for the multi-team tournament.
“It feels fantastic to be back in the T20 group after quite some time. This three-week period has been great, and I had some quality time at home. The youthful energy in our team is invigorating, and I can’t wait for what lies ahead,” he shared.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Fours, with the leading two teams competing for the championship title in the 17th edition of the Asia Cup. This tournament will mark India’s first T20I appearance since their home series victory against England by 4-1 in January.

Left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh noted that the team is focused on gradually building momentum leading up to their opening match against the UAE. “The atmosphere is vibrant and fun. It’s day one, and we’ll ramp up our intensity as we approach the first match,” he commented.

It felt like we’re back, and there’s a key message from our coach to every player: ‘Whenever you represent your country, you have a chance to do something new.’ I’ve utilized this opportunity well, training hard to improve my skills as a cricketer.”
