Key Takeaways
Dubai, March 11 (NationPress) The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the final distribution of prize money for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, confirming that the victorious team, India, will be awarded USD 2.63 million from the tournament's total USD 11.25 million prize pool for players.
India clinched the championship by overcoming New Zealand in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, concluding a triumphant tournament that also brought in a historic financial payout. This prize pool signifies the substantial increase in ICC tournament prize money that was introduced in 2024.
As stated by the ICC, the champions will receive USD 2,639,423, which is a notable rise compared to the payout from the last tournament edition in 2024. The runners-up, New Zealand, will take home USD 1,422,692 for their second-place finish, while the semi-finalist teams, South Africa and England, will earn USD 1,005,577 and USD 974,423, respectively.
Four teams that reached the Super 8s but did not advance to the knockout stages—West Indies, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and Sri Lanka—will receive USD 538,269, USD 522,692, USD 491,538, and USD 475,962 respectively.
Additionally, teams that made it to the Super 8 phase but did not progress further, including Afghanistan, Australia, and the United States, will each be awarded USD 309,808.
Among the remaining participants, Scotland will receive USD 278,654, while Ireland will earn USD 271,731. Italy, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, and Nepal will each be granted USD 256,154.
Teams that exited in the earlier rounds, namely Canada, Namibia, and Oman, will each obtain the base participation fee of USD 225,000.
The ICC confirmed that all the mentioned figures represent the gross prize money teams earned throughout the group stage, Super 8s, semi-finals, and the final. These amounts include base participation payments, bonuses for match victories, and rewards for advancing through the tournament stages.
However, the governing body clarified that these figures are calculated "before any applicable tax compliance or deductions."
It also noted that the record prize pool "reflects the base participation payment that each team receives (USD 225,000), final team placements, win bonuses, and progression through each stage of the tournament."
