New Delhi, July 29 (NationPress) The prominent Indian badminton players Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty kicked off their journey at the Macau Open Super 300 with an impressive straight-game victory against Malaysia's Low Hang Yee and Ng Eng Cheong in the men's doubles opening round held in Macau on Tuesday.
Recently reinstated in the top 10 of the BWF world rankings, the Asian Games gold medallists showcased a dominant performance, overpowering the Malaysian duo with scores of 21-13 and 21-15 in just 36 minutes. The Indian pair started off strong, quickly establishing a 6-1 lead.
Even though the Malaysians managed to narrow the gap to just one point at 10-9, Satwik and Chirag pulled ahead effortlessly to secure the first game. The second game proved to be more competitive, with the Malaysians staying close until the score reached 13-14, after which the Indians executed a four-point surge to clinch the match.
In the women's singles, emerging talents Anmol Kharb and Tasnim Mir advanced to the main draw after remarkable victories in their qualification matches. Anmol triumphed over Azerbaijan’s Keisha Fatimah Azzahra with scores of 21-11 and 21-13, while Tasnim overcame a challenging three-game duel against Thailand’s Tidapron Kleebyeesun, securing her win with scores of 21-14, 13-21, and 21-17.
