Chennai, Oct 23 (NationPress) The Indian Squash Academy in Chennai is gearing up for an exciting event from October 25 to 31, as the Sub Junior & Junior National Squash Championships 2025 take the spotlight. This esteemed tournament will showcase 623 young athletes from across the nation competing in 10 categories, emphasizing the growth of India’s squash talent and the sport's expanding reach at the grassroots level.
The week-long championship kicks off with qualification rounds on October 25, transitioning to the main draw from October 28 to 31. Fans can look forward to thrilling matches as the nation's top young players compete for national titles in both boys’ and girls’ divisions.
In the boys’ categories, standout players include Aryan SK, Abhyuday Arora, Shreyansh Jha, Subhash Choudhary, and Arihant KS, leading the U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19 divisions respectively. The girls’ events feature top seeds such as Alia Kankaria (U11), Divyanshi Jain (U13), Vasundhara Nangare (U15), Aradhya Porwal (U17), and Unnati Tripathi (U19).
This year’s championships highlight several participants with notable international achievements, showcasing the strength of India’s junior circuit. Aryaveer Dewan secured gold in the boys’ U17 category at the 2025 Asian Junior Championships in South Korea, while Ayaan Dhanuka, Saanvi Kalanki, and Anika Dubey earned silver in their respective events.
Bronze medals were awarded to Aryaman Singh and Amarya Bajaj in the boys’ U15 category. Additionally, India’s boys’ team—comprised of Arihant KS, Yusha Nafees, and Aryaveer Dewan—captured a bronze medal at the World Junior Team Championship in Egypt earlier this year.
While several international stars are set to feature at the Nationals, 17-year-old Anahat Singh, one of India’s most promising squash players, will be absent as she continues her professional journey on the PSA Tour aiming for a higher world ranking.
Illustrating the event’s importance, SRFI President Anil Wadhwa stated that the Sub Junior & Junior Nationals are the premier junior tournament on the SRFI calendar, offering a vital platform for India’s youth to challenge themselves at a national level.
He expressed appreciation to the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) for their ongoing support, along with gratitude to SDAT, TNSRA, ISA, Dunlop, and the Centre for Sports Science for their contributions.
