New Delhi, June 14 (NationPress) In a groundbreaking achievement for inclusive sports, the Indian mixed disability cricket team is poised to embark on its inaugural international series at the legendary Lord’s Cricket Ground in England, often referred to as the 'Mecca of Cricket'. The team is scheduled to tour England from June 21 to July 3, 2025.
This event marks a significant milestone as the Indian squad, comprising 18 players with physical and intellectual challenges, sets off on its first international tour. Under the leadership of Captain Ravindra Gopinath Sante, the team will engage in a seven-match series. A standout moment will be their match at the renowned Lord's Cricket Ground, a first for India's men's mixed disability cricket team, along with another match on July 1 in Bristol, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports alongside the England Women vs India Women game.
Svayam, a prominent accessibility organization, partnered with the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) to host a celebratory send-off event for the Indian Men's Mixed Disability Cricket Team.
Among the attendees at the ceremony held at The Imperial Hotel, New Delhi, were Smt. Sminu Jindal, Founder-Chairperson of Svayam, and Madan Lal, a former Indian cricketer and member of the 1983 World Cup-winning team. Madan Lal expressed gratitude towards Svayam and the sponsors, stating, “Without their support, this team wouldn’t have the chance to play at the iconic Lord’s Ground.
