Singapore, June 26 (NationPress) India’s Nehru World School secured a thrilling victory against Singapore’s United World College South East Asia Dover, winning 66–62 in the Boys' Division of the NBA Rising Stars Invitational 2025. This marks a successful start to their campaign in this prestigious tournament.
Abhyupang Mishra, the captain of Nehru World School, shone brightly as the top-scorer for his team, contributing an impressive 20 points to the win.
The inaugural NBA Rising Stars Invitational kicked off on Wednesday at the Kallang Tennis Hub in Singapore, featuring boys’ and girls’ teams from 11 countries across the Asia-Pacific. This high-school basketball tournament is part of a multi-day immersive basketball and entertainment festival.
This event is a result of the NBA’s ongoing collaboration with Sport Singapore (Sport SG) and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). The five-day tournament began with round-robin games running until June 27, followed by exciting single-elimination semifinals and finals on June 28 and 29.
In addition to the thrilling matches, the festival offers a wide array of interactive experiences for fans, including player appearances, meet-and-greets, open court sessions, and photo ops with authentic NBA memorabilia like the Larry O’Brien Trophy. Attendees can also purchase official NBA merchandise and enjoy performances from the Los Angeles Lakers dance team, the Laker Girls, and the Miami Heat mascot Burnie.
Representing India are two teams: Nehru World School from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi Public School from Rajnandgaon.
A total of 220 high school players are participating in the NBA Rising Stars Invitational, with teams from countries including Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand.
