Dubai, Oct 7 (NationPress) India’s Abhishek Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, and Smriti Mandhana have been selected as nominees for the ICC Player of the Month for September.

Abhishek and Kuldeep make the men’s shortlist alongside Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett. Abhishek received this honor following an outstanding Player of the Series performance in the Asia Cup held in the UAE, while Kuldeep distinguished himself as the tournament’s top wicket-taker with his impactful bowling. Bennett secured his nomination through impressive performances in several T20I series, including the T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers.

On the women’s side, Mandhana stands out along with Pakistan’s Sidra Ameen and South Africa’s Tazmin Brits. Mandhana was recognized as Player of the Series in the ODI series versus Australia, while Sidra and Brits showcased remarkable batting skills in their respective bilateral series in Pakistan.

Men's Shortlist:

Abhishek Sharma: The left-handed opener amassed 314 runs in seven matches with an average of 44.85 and an impressive strike rate of 200 during the Asia Cup. His aggressive batting was pivotal in his team's victories, and he achieved the highest rating points ever in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, reaching 931 at the conclusion of the Super Fours stage.

Kuldeep Yadav: The left-arm wrist-spinner topped the wickets chart in the Asia Cup, claiming 17 wickets in seven T20Is at an average of 9.29 and an economy rate of 6.27. His standout performance included a remarkable four-wicket haul for 30 against Pakistan and another four-wicket display against the UAE.

Brian Bennett: The 21-year-old top-order batsman accumulated 497 runs in nine T20Is with an average of 55.22 and a striking rate of 165.66. He led the run-scoring in the T20I series against Sri Lanka and Namibia before impressively scoring 72, 65, and 111 in his first three innings at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Africa Qualifier.

Women’s Shortlist:

Smriti Mandhana: The left-handed opener scored 308 runs across four ODIs during this period, averaging 77 with a strike rate of 135.68. The India vice-captain recorded scores of 58, 117, and 125 in the ODI series against Australia, achieving her century in just 50 balls during the third match, marking the fastest century by an Indian batter.

Sidra Ameen: Sidra was the leading run-scorer in the home ODI series against South Africa, accumulating 293 runs in three ODIs at an incredible average of 293 and a strike rate of 82.76. Her remarkable form was highlighted by scores of 121 not out, 122, and 50 not out in those three matches.

Tazmin Brits: Brits was honored as the Player of the Series against Pakistan despite appearing in only two matches. She scored 101 and 171 in the first two matches, both wins for South Africa, contributing to a series victory that ended 2-1.
