New Delhi, Oct 13 (NationPress) The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) hosted a distinguished ceremony on Monday at the Taj Mansingh Hotel in New Delhi to celebrate the achievements of India’s medallists from the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The event was attended by notable figures including P.T. Usha, the president of the IOA, along with Mansukh Mandaviya, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, senior government officials, sponsors, and representatives from the sporting community. This occasion recognized the athletes who have brought honor and inspiration to the nation with their outstanding performances.

India concluded its Paris 2024 campaign with a total of six medals: one silver and five bronze. Neeraj Chopra added to his Tokyo success by winning a silver in the men’s javelin throw, showcasing his prowess on the global stage. Manu Bhaker earned two bronze medals—one in the women’s 10m air pistol event and another in the mixed team category alongside Sarabjot Singh.

Swapnil Kusale made history by securing a bronze in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event, while emerging wrestler Aman Sehrawat clinched bronze in the men’s freestyle 57 kg, marking him as one of India’s youngest Olympic medallists. The Indian men’s hockey team also made a triumphant return, winning bronze after a decisive 2–1 victory over Spain in the third-place match.

During the ceremony, the IOA awarded cash prizes to all medallists and their coaches, acknowledging their vital contributions to India’s sporting success. Neeraj Chopra received Rs 75 lakh, Manu Bhaker received Rs 50 lakh, while Sarabjot Singh and Swapnil Kusale each garnered Rs 37.5 lakh. Aman Sehrawat also received Rs 50 lakh, and the Indian men’s hockey team was awarded Rs 10 lakh for the main squad and Rs 5 lakh for reserve players.

The coaches, including Dr Klaus Erich Bartoneitz, Jaspal Rana, Abhishek Rana, Deepali Deshpande, Ali Shabanov, and Craig Fulton, were also honored for their essential roles in nurturing India’s champions.

The evening concluded with Raghuram Iyer – CEO of the IOA, expressing gratitude to esteemed guests, federations, sponsors, and the Indian public for their unwavering support that propels India’s Olympic journey forward.
