New Delhi, Dec 13 (NationPress) Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter and selector Saba Karim remarked that the franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) are expected to target Salman Nizar for his explosive capabilities in the number five or six batting position during the eagerly anticipated auction scheduled for December 16 in Abu Dhabi.
The left-handed batsman Nizar has made waves by hitting 11 sixes off his last 13 balls in a match for the Calicut Globsters in the Kerala Cricket League (KCL). Karim noted, "Salman Nizar's skills are evident from his performance in the KCL. He possesses the power and insight to execute significant shots."
He further stated, "When a player with such potential emerges, where should he be positioned? Any IPL team in need of a dynamic number five or six batter will undoubtedly have Salman Nizar on their radar during the auction," as shared on JioStar.
Additionally, former Indian player Abhinav Mukund believes that left-handed wicketkeeper-batter Tushar Raheja could spark a bidding frenzy in the upcoming mini IPL auction. Raheja played a crucial role in helping the Tiruppur Tamizhans clinch the 2025 Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) title, scoring 488 runs in nine matches with a strike rate of 185.55.
"Despite being perceived as young, Tushar Raheja has nearly seven to eight seasons of TNPL experience. His focus on achieving high scores was evident this season, as he adeptly handles the Power-play and spins the ball effectively. He has hit bowlers like Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravichandran Ashwin all over the field," he mentioned.
"This is a player who previously struggled to secure a spot in the Tamil Nadu team. However, with his recent performances, he has become hard to overlook. I am confident he has the potential to thrive in the IPL. He strikes the ball well and sends it flying for sixes. His ability as a wicketkeeper further enhances his value," added Mukund.
Another promising player that franchises will keep an eye on is seam-bowling all-rounder Sairaj Patil, who scored 233 runs in six innings and took seven wickets, earning the title of Player of the Tournament in the T20 Mumbai League.
"I had numerous opportunities. I was part of a UK tour with the Mumbai Indians and later served as a net bowler for them. Every year, I attend trials for various teams. I feel I'm on the brink of being selected, and my performances in the Mumbai T20 league have boosted my prospects. My top three favorite IPL teams are MI, CSK, and RCB," he concluded.
