ISL 2024-25: Jamshedpur Stages Late Comeback to Overcome Bengaluru 2-1, Securing 4th Straight Home Win

Jamshedpur, Jan 4 (NationPress) Jordan Murray and Muhammad Uvais found the net in the closing moments of the match, enabling Jamshedpur FC to rally from behind and defeat Bengaluru FC 2-1 during the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Saturday night. Bengaluru FC initially took the lead with a goal from Alberto Noguera, but a remarkable second-half performance from Jamshedpur FC saw Murray score in the 84th minute and Uvais clinch the victory in the last seconds of the match.

The match kicked off with a lively pace. In the third minute, the visitors nearly scored first when Noguera delivered an exquisite long ball to Sunil Chhetri, catching the entire Jamshedpur FC defense off-guard. However, Albino Gomes made a crucial save to deny Chhetri's attempt. Apart from this early chance, the first quarter was largely uneventful in terms of scoring opportunities, though both teams battled fiercely for possession in midfield.

Despite the pressure from Jamshedpur FC's high pressing game, Bengaluru remained composed and eventually broke the deadlock in the 19th minute when Naorem Roshan Singh made a dynamic run down the left wing and delivered a stunning cross to Noguera, who finished calmly past Albino.

Jamshedpur FC almost equalized shortly after when Imran Khan found Pratik Chaudhuri with a precise cross in the box. Although Pratik failed to connect perfectly, the ball remained in play, allowing him to take a shot that was brilliantly blocked by Gurpreet Singh Sandhu.

Bengaluru FC sought to extend their lead through Chhetri, who had two attempts at goal but could not convert. Another excellent run from Roshan set up Chhetri again, but his initial shot hit the post and Pratik was there to thwart his follow-up effort.

The second half commenced with intense action, as both teams fought hard for control. Bengaluru FC created several chances thanks to their quality in the attacking third, including a chance for Edgar Mendez, whose shot was well parried by Albino.

In the 72nd minute, Gerard Zaragoza made strategic substitutions, bringing on Aleksandar Jovanovic and Vinith Venkatesh for Noguera and Chinglensana Singh. Khalid Jamil responded by introducing Ritwik Das and Mobashir Rahman in place of Seiminlen Doungel and Sourav Das to invigorate the attack and midfield.

Finally, in the 84th minute, Jamshedpur FC's relentless efforts paid off as Jordan Murray equalized with a stunning back volley, leaving Gurpreet and the defense in disbelief. The play began with a corner taken by Mobashir, which was initially cleared, but Nikhil Barla retrieved the loose ball and provided a brilliant cross to Murray. The Australian skillfully controlled the ball before executing an acrobatic volley that sent the home crowd into a frenzy. Khalid Jamil's team delivered the final blow in the 90th minute when Muhammad Uvais tapped the ball into the open net after Gurpreet parried the ball directly to him, securing the win for the Men of Steel and ending their six-match winless streak against Bengaluru FC in this tournament.

Bengaluru FC will welcome Mohammedan SC on January 11 for an afternoon match, while Jamshedpur FC is set to travel to Mumbai to face Mumbai City FC on January 12.
