ISL 2024-25: Mumbai City Aims for Seventh Consecutive Unbeaten Match Against Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Dec 4 (NationPress) Mumbai City FC is gearing up to challenge Odisha FC at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar as both teams vie for dominance in their Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 matchup on Thursday.
In their last meeting in October, the two teams ended in a 1-1 draw in Mumbai, but as the competition heats up, both will be eager to secure all three points in this upcoming clash.
Odisha FC, riding high on two consecutive victories, aims to secure a third straight win, while Mumbai City FC is intent on extending their unbeaten streak against Odisha FC to seven matches in the league.
Odisha FC has successfully scored in each of their last 10 home games in the ISL. A goal in this match would tie their record of scoring in 11 consecutive home matches, which was established between December 2019 and December 2022. With 23 goals this season, based on an expected goals (xG) total of 12.68, Odisha FC holds the highest xG differential (+10.32) in the league, showcasing their impressive finishing skills.
Mumbai City FC has gone unbeaten in their last six matches against Odisha FC. They only have longer active streaks against FC Goa (13 games) and Chennaiyin FC (9 games). In their 11 ISL encounters, Mumbai City FC has claimed victory in six matches, while Odisha FC has won three times.
Odisha FC’s head coach, Sergio Lobera, stated that the Juggernauts will stick to their playing philosophy and remain unaffected by the strengths of Mumbai City FC.
“We understand our style of play. We are aware of our strengths and must play accordingly. If we deviate from that, we won’t be effective. The team is prepared for tomorrow’s match,” Lobera remarked.
Mumbai City FC's head coach Petr Kratky emphasized the need for defensive solidity to counter Odisha FC’s goal-scoring prowess.
“Odisha FC has netted 10 goals in their last two matches. We must figure out a method to stop this. They have found a way to outscore their opponents. We also need to remain true to our style of play,” Kratky added.
The Juggernauts suffered a significant setback in their last outing as star striker Roy Krishna will be out for the rest of the season due to an ACL (Grade 3) injury he sustained against Hyderabad FC.
