Bhubaneswar, Jan 6 (NationPress) Odisha FC has successfully signed the promising forward Rahul KP on a permanent transfer from Kerala Blasters FC this Monday. The agreement will allow the 24-year-old to represent the Kalinga Warriors until the end of the 2026-27 season, with an opportunity to extend for another year.

Rahul KP joins the Kalinga Warriors following a remarkable start to the 2024/25 Indian Super League (ISL) season with Kerala Blasters FC, where he has already participated in 11 matches. Notably, he netted his first goal of the season during a convincing 3-0 win against Chennaiyin FC on November 24. He has made a total of 89 appearances for the Yellow Army, contributing over 10 goals across various competitions.

Rahul KP began his football journey in Thrissur, advancing through the youth ranks in Kerala. He shone at the FIFA U-17 World Cup and later joined the Indian Arrows, making his professional debut in the I-League during the 2017-18 season. While with Indian Arrows, Rahul made 40 appearances and scored six goals.

“I am ready for this new challenge. Odisha FC is the only team that showed interest in me, so I am extremely pleased to be here. Most importantly, it’s the coach’s decision, which makes it even more exciting. I am here to give my best, learn, and grow. The rest is up to the Good Lord,” stated Rahul.

Head Coach, Sergio Lobera: “Rahul is a player who fits our playing style perfectly. I am confident he will contribute to our improvement, and I am pleased with his addition.”

Earlier today, Kerala Blasters FC and Jaushua Sotirio mutually decided to part ways, ending his tenure with the club.
