New Delhi, Aug 17 (NationPress) Ravindra Jadeja’s iconic sword-swinging celebration has become a familiar sight on the cricket pitch. However, former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has advised the experienced all-rounder to be cautious with his celebrations, warning that he could risk injuring his rotator cuff muscle.
Jadeja scored a total of 516 runs in the drawn 2-2 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test series against England, achieving five half-centuries and one century. Lee commented, “The thing with Jadeja, the only way I see him getting injured is doing a rotator cuff with his, the way he does a sword celebration. So, I love it. Look after your body. Don't celebrate too hard,” during his YouTube segment on Sunday.
Although Jadeja announced his retirement from T20Is following India's T20 World Cup victory last year, he continues to be a formidable player in Tests and ODIs. Lee expressed his admiration for Jadeja, predicting that he will surpass 100 Test matches for India. “Another sort of 15 Tests, it’s about two years. I think he’ll go past the 100 mark. I think he’s one of the best all-rounders that we’ve seen. At 36 years of age, he still has a good couple of years left in him.”
“The term we like to use is factory-made cricketer. He possesses all the essential qualities that a cricketer needs, and I believe he checks every single box. He executes the fundamentals correctly, has a straightforward technique, and runs in to bowl with accuracy, maintaining the right line and length when necessary while completing his overs efficiently.”
“At 36 years of age, he remains the fittest in the team, covering a lot of ground and taking pride in his fitness. That is likely why he never hesitates during those crucial moments. He enjoys being part of the game, is an entertainer, and if you were to combine all the best traits of a cricketer, Jadeja would certainly be at the top of the list,” he concluded.
