Hyderabad, Sep 26 (NationPress) Jamal Hossain from Bangladesh triumphed in the Rs 1 crore Telangana Golconda Masters 2025 after the final round was canceled due to heavy rain at the Hyderabad Golf Association (HGA) on Friday.

The final results were determined based on the cumulative scores from 54 holes, as inclement weather made it impossible to complete the fourth round.

Hossain (61-62-64) led the competition by four strokes following the third round, finishing with a remarkable total of 23-under 187, thus earning his sixth title and his first since November of the previous year. The 40-year-old from Dhaka took home a prize of INR 15 lakh, moving him from 14th to 10th place in the 2025 PGTI Order of Merit.

Akshay Sharma from Chandigarh (62-64-65) took the runner-up position, finishing at 19-under 291 after three rounds. He received a cheque for INR 10 lakh, allowing him to advance from 34th to 21st in the PGTI merit list.

Khalin Joshi (65-66-66) of Bengaluru secured third place with a score of 13-under 197.

Arjun Prasad from Delhi finished sixth with a total of 11-under 199, maintaining second place in the PGTI Ranking with season earnings of INR 69,71,599. Meanwhile, Yuvraj Sandhu from Chandigarh, who did not participate in this event, continues to lead the PGTI money list with earnings of INR 88,67,200.

Local golfer Vishesh Sharma achieved the best finish among Hyderabad participants, tying for 22nd place at five-under 205.

Throughout the tournament, Jamal Hossain showcased his prowess by maintaining the lead from start to finish. After his tournament-low round of 61, he had a one-shot advantage after the first round, extended it to three shots after a second-round score of 62, and ultimately increased it to four shots following a 64 in round three, with only one bogey over the 54 holes.

“I’m thrilled to have finally secured a win this season after coming close on several occasions earlier this year. Although I would have preferred to play the final round, the weather was beyond our control. I felt consistent throughout the week, thanks to my driving and putting. The first round of 61 truly set the tone for the tournament,” stated Jamal.

“My next major objective is to perform well in the upcoming DP World India Championship in Delhi next month. I believe my form is improving as I head into that event,” he added.
