Tauranga, Oct 25 (NationPress) New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson has been excluded from the upcoming three-match ODI series against England following a bout of stiffness in his left side that he experienced during training at Bay Oval on Saturday.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has verified that the 30-year-old Jamieson will head back to his home in Christchurch later today for further evaluation. The governing body is optimistic about his return for the home series against the West Indies scheduled for November.
Head coach Rob Walter stated, “Kyle felt some stiffness in his side after bowling today, and we didn’t want to jeopardize his health this early in the summer. It’s prudent for him to miss this one-day series to ensure he is fit for the West Indies tour, which commences on November 5 in Auckland.”
Walter added that a replacement for Jamieson in the ODI squad will be announced after the first round of the Ford Trophy one-day competition concludes later today.
The three-match ODI series will kick off at Bay Oval in Tauranga on Sunday, followed by matches in Hamilton and Wellington on October 29 and November 1, respectively. England had previously secured victory in the three-match T20I series 1-0, with two games affected by rain.
