Washington, Oct 26 (NationPress) Indian Ambassador to the US, Vinay Kwatra, shared his Diwali greetings with Indian citizens and the diaspora during an exclusive discussion with IANS.
On Saturday, he hosted a special Diwali gathering at his residence for members of the Indian community in Washington, DC.
"It brings me immense joy, both personally and on behalf of my Embassy, to wish everyone a warm, healthy, and prosperous Diwali. As we enter this festive season, may it bring abundant blessings and health to you and your loved ones," he expressed during the celebration.
Earlier, Ambassador Kwatra acknowledged the diaspora's significant contributions to enhancing the India-US relationship.
On Thursday, he participated in Diwali festivities at the World Bank, accompanied by members of the Indian community in Washington, DC.
He shared on X, "Celebrated Diwali with friends of India at the World Bank. It is always delightful to join the vibrant community of Indian-origin professionals at the World Bank and IMF."
The gathering also included World Bank President Ajay Banga and other prominent diaspora leaders.
On Tuesday, the Ambassador attended a special Diwali event at the White House where US President Donald Trump conveyed his "warmest wishes to the people of India."
Trump lit a diya in the Oval Office, symbolizing "faith in the victory of light over darkness."
The Indian Ambassador expressed gratitude to President Trump for celebrating Diwali at the White House.
"This event showcases the strength of diversity. It is a true honor. On behalf of my Prime Minister and myself, I wish you and your loved ones a very happy Diwali, especially to the over five million strong Indian diaspora in the US. May the light of Diwali shine brightly on your achievements and the strength of India," he remarked.
The White House event also featured the new US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
Prominent business leaders from the Indian diaspora were also part of the festivities.
