New Delhi, Oct 22 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to US President Donald Trump for the Diwali wishes and emphasized the importance of a unified front against all forms of terrorism.

During a press interaction at the White House's Diwali Party, Trump mentioned his conversation with PM Modi the previous day, highlighting that both nations are collaborating on significant agreements.

"I just spoke to your Prime Minister today. We had an excellent dialogue. We discussed trade and various topics, but trade was a primary focus. He is deeply interested in it," Trump stated.

PM Modi also shared a message on X, saying, "Thank you, President Trump, for your warm Diwali greetings and phone call. On this festival of lights, may our two great democracies continue to shine hope in the world and unite against terrorism in all its forms."

At the White House, Trump hosted a special Diwali celebration, praising PM Modi as "a remarkable individual" and expressing his affection for "the people of India."

The event was graced by Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Kwatra, newly appointed US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. Notable business leaders from the Indian community also joined the festivities.

Trump lit a diya in the Oval Office, symbolizing "the triumph of light over darkness," and conveyed his "warmest wishes to the Indian populace."

Previously, Trump claimed to have mediated the India-Pakistan dispute in May. However, India refuted this assertion, clarifying that the ceasefire was achieved only after a request from the Pakistani Army.

Nonetheless, Trump reiterated his stance during the Diwali event, stating, "We discussed earlier about having no conflicts with Pakistan. The involvement of trade facilitated our discussion, and we maintain peace between Pakistan and India, which is a highly favorable outcome."
