Why Is Jeffrey Schlupp Leaving Crystal Palace After Eight-and-a-Half Years?

London, May 28 (NationPress) Jeffrey Schlupp is set to part ways with Crystal Palace this summer after an impressive eight-and-a-half-year journey with the club. The 32-year-old has made a remarkable 247 appearances since his move from Leicester City to South London in January 2017.

"Playing for this club over the past eight years has been an extraordinary experience. I've had the privilege of meeting incredible individuals – the Chairman, the manager, and all the staff I've encountered during this time – and representing Crystal Palace has meant a great deal to me. A heartfelt 'thank you' to everyone who has contributed to our remarkable achievements together.

"If you ask anyone about the Palace fans, they will tell you about the incredible atmosphere they create and how often they have rallied us during tough times. They have been our 12th man, so a big thank you to all the fans for your unwavering support. I hope I've made you all proud, and I look forward to seeing you again soon," Schlupp expressed.

Having emerged from the Leicester City academy, Schlupp made his professional debut in 2011 after a short loan period at Brentford in League One. He amassed 150 appearances for Leicester, celebrating an EFL Championship win in 2013-14 and being part of the historic Foxes squad that clinched the Premier League title in 2015-16.

Schlupp’s versatility and ability to adapt to various roles provided crucial squad depth, making him a consistent choice in numerous Palace lineups.

During his tenure in South London, he netted 19 goals and assisted 17 times.

In August 2023, Schlupp achieved the milestone of his 200th appearance for the club. With 220 Premier League games under his belt for Palace, he ranks fourth for the most appearances in the league for the team. He leaves with an FA Cup winner's medal, contributing to the third-round victory over Stockport County.

After making 16 appearances this season, Schlupp spent the latter half on loan at Celtic, where he celebrated winning the Scottish Premiership title.
