New Delhi, Nov 9 (NationPress) Ravichandran Ashwin praised Jordan Hermann for his exceptional performance while representing South Africa's 'A' team in the two unofficial Tests against India A. The Protea opener showcased his batting prowess, challenging the Indian bowlers at the BCCI Centre of Excellence’s Ground 1 in Bengaluru this past Sunday.
As he opened the final innings for South Africa A, Hermann scored 91 runs off 123 deliveries, forging a remarkable 156-run partnership with Lesego Senokwane, propelling their team towards a challenging chase of 417 runs.
“Under the leadership of Jordan Hermann, South Africa ‘A’ is putting up a strong fight on day 4 of the Unofficial Test, chasing down 417 runs. Hermann is currently batting on 90 runs against formidable bowlers like Siraj, Prasidh, Kuldeep, and Akash Deep. Regardless of the outcome today, Jordan Hermann has indeed made significant progress in the South African cricket scene. He is part of the SR Eastern Cape in the SA 20,” Ashwin shared on X.
During the first session of Day 4 in the second unofficial Test, India A conceded 114 runs in 27 overs as the bowlers struggled to restrict the South African batsmen. Ultimately, it was Prasidh Krishna who secured the crucial wicket of Hermann on the final delivery of the 43rd over.
After delivering a full toss on the off-side, Hermann aimed for a drive but failed to keep the ball grounded, resulting in a catch that Krishna held onto.
Although South Africa A came close to winning the first unofficial Test, India A's late surge allowed them to clinch a three-wicket victory. Following the conclusion of the second match, players will gear up for a series against the senior South African team.
The upcoming series will feature two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is across various venues in India.
