New Delhi, Nov 20 (NationPress) Wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis has been officially named in the CA XI roster for the forthcoming four-day encounter against the England Lions at Lilac Hill. Additionally, Caelan Maladay has been appointed as a substitute for Aidan O’Connor, who was part of last week's squad announcement.
All thirteen players in the squad are cleared to take part in the match. The four-day competition between the CA XI and the England Lions kicks off on Friday at Lilac Hill in Perth.
Jhye Richardson, boasting 36 international appearances but facing challenges due to recurring injuries, was a significant inclusion in the squad revealed last week.
Since achieving a match-winning five-wicket haul in Adelaide during the 2021/22 Ashes, Richardson has made only four first-class appearances over the last four years and underwent shoulder surgery earlier this year.
If his recovery proceeds positively, Richardson could potentially face the England Lions for Australia A at Allan Border Field starting December 5. This match is scheduled the day after the second Ashes Test in Brisbane, offering him another opportunity to showcase his fitness for the five-match series.
Earlier reports indicated that an additional player from Australia's Test squad—either Brendan Doggett or Josh Inglis—would join the team. With Doggett now listed in Australia’s playing XI for the Ashes opener, Inglis has been selected for the CA squad.
In the squad, only Richardson and Jake Fraser-McGurk have represented Australia, with Mackenzie taking on the captaincy role.
Eight members of the team are 24 years or younger, including 2024 U19 World Cup champions Charlie Anderson and Aidan O'Connor. Meanwhile, England’s main Test squad is preparing for a two-day match against the Prime Minister’s XI in Canberra between the first and second Ashes Tests.
Final 13-player squad: Mackenzie Harvey (c), Caelan Maladay, Cameron McClure, Charlie Anderson, Jack Sinfield, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Jake Scott, Jhye Richardson, Josh Inglis, Liam Blackford, Nivethan Radhakrishnan, Teague Wyllie, Xavier Crone.
