Key Takeaways
Glasgow, Jan 27 (NationPress) Celtic Football Club has officially revealed that Jota is making his return to the team, having signed a five-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him with the Scottish club until June 2030.
“This feels incredibly nostalgic for me. I cherish all the moments I experienced during my two seasons here, and I couldn't be happier to come back. The excitement is overwhelming, and I am eager to get started. The best thing about Glasgow, apart from Celtic, is definitely the people. I have a strong need for a place with soul, somewhere I feel at home. There really is no better fit than Celtic for me,” Jota expressed to Celtic TV.
“I am filled with excitement. The last year and a half has been filled with its share of challenges, but that's just part of life and football. Now, I look forward to working hard, reconnecting with my teammates, and enjoying the game again,” he added.
The 25-year-old player comes from Rennes in France, where he spent the last six months after a stint in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ittihad. This marks Jota's second tenure with Celtic, having first joined the club on loan from Benfica back in 2021.
His initial year was a tremendous success, as he played a crucial role in leading the club to the Scottish Premiership title and the League Cup. After making his transfer permanent, he became a key player in the squad that secured the Treble in the 2022/23 season.
Overall, he netted 28 goals in 83 appearances for the Hoops and has now rejoined Celtic, becoming a part of Brendan Rodgers' squad during what is already shaping up to be a highly successful season.
