Glasgow, July 19 (NationPress) Celtic Football Club has successfully secured the signing of Japanese forward Shin Yamada on a four-year contract from J League outfit Kawasaki Frontale. The 25-year-old marks the latest enhancement to Brendan Rodgers’ squad, joining compatriot Hyato Inamura, along with Kieran Tierney, Benjamin Nygren, Callum Osmand, and Ross Doohan.
Yamada, who recently earned his inaugural cap for Japan, boasts an impressive record of 32 goals in 121 appearances for Kawasaki Frontale, the same team that Reo Hatate represented before his transition to Celtic.
He will be reunited with fellow Japanese players Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda, and Hyato Inamura at Celtic.
“It is an incredible honor for me to be here as a Celtic player, and I can’t wait to start my journey at this remarkable club. Celtic is a renowned name in global football. I have watched my fellow countrymen like Daizen, Reo, and Kyogo excel at Celtic, and I aim to have a similar impact,” Yamada expressed in a statement.
“However, I am my own player, and I am prepared to face all my unique challenges head-on. I want to excel at Celtic. I understand that Celtic Park is among the finest venues in the world for football, with the most passionate supporters, and I will do everything possible to make my new fans proud. I assure you that I will give my all to bring success to our fans.”
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers commented, “I am thrilled that we have welcomed Shin to the club. He is a robust player who can both score and assist, and I believe he will add a vital element to our forward lineup.
“I know he is eager to make an impression in European football and deliver for Celtic, and I think he possesses the strength, athleticism, and intensity to thrive with us. I look forward to collaborating with him.”
