Kashi's turnaround from a mid-season four-match losing streak was anchored by Kartik's match-winning performance against table-toppers Meerut Mavericks, where he returned figures of 3 for 12 in four overs to bowl them out for 119. His best figures this season stand at 4 for 7 — the second-best bowling figures of the entire campaign. His average of 15.29 and strike rate of 14.57 underline his consistency as a wicket-taking option.

Jadeja and Pandya: The Inspirations Behind the Craft

Kartik has drawn inspiration from two of Indian cricket's most celebrated all-rounders. 'Playing-wise, I would say Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya as well, as he has that mindset. Jadeja does left-arm spin bowling, left-handed batting, and his fielding is also good. I see him as a contributor for the team in all three departments, whenever needed in any format,' Kartik said.

On Pandya's influence, he added: 'No matter what the situation is, there is no pressure on him. He handles the pressure well, and he has in his mind that I am the best — not in a negative sense, but in a positive sense. So, I admire that a lot about him.'

From Batsman to Spinner: The Coach Who Saw the Potential

Kartik's journey as a bowler began at the Madan Mohan Malviya Stadium in Prayagraj, where coach Amit Pal urged him to swap the bat for the ball. In his early years, Kartik had focused exclusively on batting — even through school cricket. Pal's intervention proved transformative. The son of a CRPF official, Kartik subsequently moved to a cricket academy in Ghaziabad to develop his spin craft, a decision that has paid significant dividends.

His domestic credentials back the progress: Kartik represented Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy last season, taking a five-wicket haul on debut against Tamil Nadu — after first impressing in the U23 circuit. 'I got selected in the U23 team and performed in that. I then got selected for senior red-ball games and got a five-wicket haul on debut — it's a big achievement at this age, as per me,' he said.

Process Over Wickets: Kartik's Bowling Philosophy

Despite his impressive wicket tally, Kartik's stated priority is run restriction rather than scalps. 'My personal point of view is that I am not much behind in picking wickets. I try to give away as few runs as possible or save as many runs as possible for my team,' he explained. This economy-first mindset has complemented Kashi's broader bowling unit, which includes seamer Atal Bihari Rai (14 wickets) and ambidextrous spinner Vijay Yadav (13 wickets), along with contributions from Rishabh Rajput and young pacer Sangam.

Dressing Room Culture and the Road to the Final

Kartik credited captain Karan Sharma and head coach Dhruv Singh for maintaining team morale through the mid-season slump. 'After losing four matches, in the dressing room, the morale of the players was down... all the players were backing each other and instilling belief that we could still make things happen,' he said. 'They have never let us feel any pressure — be it when on the field with the captain or outside the ground.'

Heading into the Eliminator against Noida Super Kings, Kartik remains process-driven: 'I don't think too much, and I don't plan too much. We just want to keep doing it the way we play... results are in God's hands.' If Kashi advance, a shot at an unprecedented third straight title awaits.
