Kashi Rudras captain Karan Sharma has declared his side fully primed for the knockout stage of the UPT20 League 2026, as the defending champions prepare to face Noida Super Kings in the Eliminator. The Rudras finished third in the league stage with five wins and 10 points, and must now win the Eliminator to keep alive their bid for a historic third consecutive title.

Captain's Confidence Before the Eliminator

Speaking ahead of the high-stakes knockout fixture, Karan Sharma struck a determined tone. 'We know what is at stake now. There is no room for looking back because this is a completely different phase of the tournament,' he said. 'We have gone through a difficult period, but the way the team has responded and come back shows the character that this group has. The fire and mentality is back in everyone and we have to give everything we have in the next match.'

The skipper's words reflect a squad that has been tested and tempered. After winning three of their first four matches, the Rudras suffered a four-match losing streak mid-tournament — a slump that threatened to derail their title defence. A strong recovery in the latter stages, capped by a victory over table-toppers Meerut Mavericks in their final league outing, restored belief within the camp.

Head Coach on Adversity and Playoff Readiness

Head coach Dhruv Singh pointed to the team's response to adversity as the most encouraging sign heading into the playoffs. 'The most pleasing thing for us has been the way the group has responded to adversity. We had a difficult phase in the middle of the tournament, but the players never stopped believing in the process,' he said.

'The victory against Meerut Mavericks in our final league game was a reflection of the character within this squad. Now the league stage is behind us and everyone understands that the margins will be very small in the playoffs. We have match-winners across both departments. We have earned our place in the playoffs and now we aim to win the next game and take another step towards defending our title,' Singh added.

Karan Sharma's Standout Season with the Bat

At the centre of Kashi Rudras' campaign has been their captain. Karan Sharma enters the playoffs as the Orange Cap holder, having accumulated 355 runs across the league stage. His contributions have been match-defining on multiple occasions, including a blistering 102 off 51 balls against Noida Super Kings and an unbeaten 92 off 48 balls against Gorakhpur Lions.

The captain has been supported in the batting department by Abhishek Goswami, who has scored 241 runs, and Sahab Yuvraj Singh, who has contributed 217 runs. Notably, the Rudras face the same opponents against whom Sharma posted his century — adding a layer of familiarity and personal stakes to the Eliminator clash.

Bowling Firepower Heading Into the Knockouts

With the ball, Atal Bihari Rai has led the Rudras' attack with 14 wickets, while Vijay Yadav has chipped in with 13. Young left-arm spinner Kartik Yadav has also made his mark this season, claiming 10 wickets and emerging as a promising option heading into the pressure-cooker playoff rounds.
