New Delhi, March 20 (NationPress) Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports Mansukh Mandaviya officially opened the 2nd Khelo India Para Games 2025 at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall within the Indira Gandhi Stadium complex in New Delhi on Thursday. Over 1300 para-athletes will compete across six sports disciplines during this eight-day championship.

Paralympians including Simran Sharma (athletics), Praveen Kumar (badminton), Nitesh Kumar (badminton), Nitya Sre (badminton), and Preeti Pal (athletics) participated alongside Mandaviya, Virendra Kumar, the Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment, Kento Jini, the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, and former Paralympian Devendra Jhajharia in a special torch rally to ceremoniously initiate the Khelo India Para Games 2025.

Mandaviya expressed his enthusiasm regarding the overwhelming response to every Khelo India event, which has now emerged as the “umbrella” for all athletes aiming to achieve success for the nation. “I am incredibly proud and thrilled by the impact of Khelo India on Indian sports. Whether it’s the Khelo India Youth Games, Khelo India School Games, Khelo India Winter Games, or Khelo India Para Games, our athletes continue to bring glory to the country with their remarkable talent,” he stated.

“When someone is determined, follows the right path, and puts in hard work, the outcome is invariably positive. The achievements at the Paris Paralympics 2024, where we secured a total of 29 medals, demonstrated that our athletes possess the capability to elevate the nation on the global stage. The Khelo India Para Games offer our athletes an exceptional opportunity, paving their way to success, aligning with the vision of our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi,” Mandaviya added.

Union Minister Virendra Kumar also praised the Khelo India initiative, noting, “Khelo India Para Games 2025 represents a world-class platform for Indian athletes to showcase their skills and compete with one another. Additionally, it gives para-athletes a chance not only to validate their abilities but also to inspire others through their challenging journeys.”

The opening ceremony included athletes, coaches, and support personnel from across the nation. Sujata Chaturvedi, Secretary (Sports), and senior officials from the Sports Authority of India were also in attendance at the event.
