Kolkata, May 4 (NationPress) - The captain of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Ajinkya Rahane, has emerged victorious in the toss, opting to bat first against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) during their IPL 2025 encounter at the iconic Eden Gardens this Sunday.
In a strategic move, KKR has introduced two changes to their playing XI, welcoming Moeen Ali and Ramandeep Singh, while RR has made three adjustments. Nitish Rana, dealing with a minor injury, is replaced alongside Fazalhaq Farooqi and Kumar Kartikeya, who make way for Kunal Rathore, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Yudhvir Singh.
"We are opting to bat first as the pitch appears a bit dry. There’s uncertainty about how it may slow down in the second half. Our aim is to set a defendable total. We must keep it straightforward; it's crucial to approach one game at a time. Contributions from everyone were significant in our last match, and we need to quickly gauge and adapt to the conditions. My recent domestic cricket experience has greatly aided my game, and I'm striving to enjoy my performance. Moeen and Ramandeep's return is a boost," Rahane remarked post-toss.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals' captain Riyan Parag expressed, "I felt relieved to lose the toss, as it can be challenging. Professionalism on the field is key, and we've put in a lot of effort. Our pride is at stake, and we need to inject more energy into our gameplay. We're aiming for a collective effort with three changes in our lineup. Nitish Rana is sidelined due to injury, and Hasaranga steps in for Kumar Kartikeya, while Kunal Rathore and Yudhvir are included as well."
