Kolkata, May 4 (NationPress) The reigning champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, are facing a challenging season with their playoff aspirations hanging by a thread. Spinner Moeen Ali emphasized that the only course of action is to secure victories in their remaining matches of IPL 2025.
Currently positioned in seventh place with nine points from 10 matches, KKR has four games left, including today's crucial fixture against the Rajasthan Royals at Eden Gardens.
"We understand what needs to be done; winning all our matches is essential. Today’s match is significant," Moeen stated to broadcasters before the home game.
This season, the England spinner has participated in only four matches, and today's match against RR marks his fifth appearance after being included in the playing eleven. KKR has favored Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine as their main spinners.
In their previous encounter against Rajasthan this season, Moeen recorded impressive figures of 2-23, leading KKR to an eight-wicket victory in Guwahati.
"They are an excellent team with fantastic players. We're excited for the challenge. While Rahane is a talented player, his injury means I'll be more active in the field today. It’s vital to stay sharp and practice diligently. Initially, they informed me about my participation based on the pitch conditions," Moeen elaborated.
"You must adapt and maintain professionalism. When left-handers are batting, it increases my chances as an off-spinner. We are fortunate to have two of the best T20 spinners on our roster, making it difficult to secure a spot. Jaiswal and Suryavanshi are gifted young talents, so it will be a test for us. Nonetheless, we also possess world-class players, and we are prepared for the challenge," he added.
As they gear up for the match, KKR is determined to give their all, especially since Rajasthan has already been eliminated from the tournament after securing only three victories in 11 games.
