Kohli's Childhood Mentor Shows Confidence in Batting Star's Comeback

New Delhi, Dec 17 (NationPress) India's premier batsman Virat Kohli has encountered difficulties in the second and third Tests of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, despite an impressive unbeaten century in the first match at Perth. The Delhi-native's childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, is optimistic about his ability to adjust and find his rhythm again, as he has successfully done in the past.
“He made a century in the first match; if he hasn't scored in the subsequent two innings under tough conditions, Virat Kohli understands his game very well. He is an experienced player and recognizes his responsibilities to the team. He is an exceptional student of the game, adapts effectively to varying conditions, and I am confident he will recover without any issues,” Sharma stated in an interview with IANS.
Kohli seemed to be on the path to recovery after scoring an unbeaten century in the second innings of the opening Test, yet he has managed only seven, eleven, and three runs in his following three innings.
After his dismissal on Monday, reminiscent of the style Indian cricket fans have often seen, former India opener Sunil Gavaskar criticized Kohli for failing to leave a ball that was moving outside his off stump. Sharma believes that Gavaskar’s critiques stem from his genuine concern for Indian cricket and that his advice is always constructive.
“Sunil is a true well-wisher of Indian cricket; he is a legendary figure in the sport, and his suggestions are always valuable. I don’t think anyone has surpassed Gavaskar in batting prowess,” he added.
On Monday, Rohan Jaitley, the president of the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA), was re-elected for a second consecutive term, defeating former Indian cricketer Kirti Azad.
Jaitley, son of the late former Union minister Arun Jaitley, received 1,239 votes against Azad's 610. A total of 2,413 votes were cast, with the winning candidate required to secure 1,207 votes.
Coach Rajkumar praised Rohan's re-election, stating that it is beneficial for the sport of cricket.
“It is fantastic that Rohan has been elected as President once again, as his vision is commendable for cricket. The improvements in facilities and infrastructure for players during his tenure speak volumes. He has supported all players, whether they are men, women, or juniors, and his vision is crucial for the game's future,” he remarked.
“Rohan has always welcomed ideas and suggestions. He frequently consults with me regarding my thoughts and vision, which I share with him. His goal has consistently been to enhance cricket in Delhi as a whole,” Sharma concluded.
