New Delhi, Aug 8 (NationPress) In the midst of swirling rumors regarding his international cricket future, Virat Kohli, the iconic Indian batsman, has resumed training in London. He took a moment to thank Naeem Amin, the assistant coach of Gujarat Titans, for his support during an indoor practice session.
In a heartfelt message on his Instagram story, Kohli said, "Thanks for helping out with the hit, brother. Always lovely to see you," along with a picture of the two from the session. Amin responded by resharing the story, saying, “Good to see you, brother! See you soon.”
Amin operates the Mighty Willow Academy located in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and London, and has a background with the coaching staff of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Notably, Hardik Pandya, India’s fast-bowling all-rounder, previously practiced at Amin’s academy to enhance his skills.
Since retiring from both Test and T20 formats in June 2024, Kohli's primary focus has shifted to One Day Internationals (ODIs) and his responsibilities with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL.
With an impressive total of 14,181 runs in 302 ODIs, Kohli’s last competitive appearance was during the IPL 2025 final, where he scored a match-winning 43 runs, leading RCB to their maiden championship victory against Punjab Kings by a narrow margin of six runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Fans will have to wait until October 2025 to see Kohli back on the field, as India has no ODI matches scheduled before then. Originally, India was set to play three ODIs in Bangladesh this August, but that series has been postponed to September 2026 by mutual agreement between BCCI and BCB.
Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who have also stepped away from Test and T20 formats, are expected to make their comeback during the ODI segment of India's white-ball tour in Australia, kicking off on October 19 at Perth Stadium. This will be followed by matches at Adelaide Oval and Sydney Cricket Ground on October 23 and 25, respectively.
