New Delhi, Oct 13 (NationPress) Harbhajan Singh, a cricketing legend, is optimistic about the senior duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma making significant contributions in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, commencing on October 19.

Both Kohli and Rohit have been included in the squad for this ODI series, marking their first appearance in the Indian team since their victorious run in the Champions Trophy last March. They will play under the new leadership of Shubman Gill, who has taken over as ODI captain from Rohit.

“Please don’t question Virat Kohli’s fitness. He’s a fitness guru, and everyone looks up to his regimen. There’s no doubt about his fitness; he’s possibly fitter than many players currently on the field. In modern international cricket, he is undoubtedly among the fittest athletes. I eagerly await seeing Virat back in action,” Harbhajan expressed during JioHotstar’s ‘Amul Cricket Live’.

“Fans have longed to watch him play, and I personally hope he continues in the One-Day International format for the foreseeable future, as he still has much to contribute. When he stepped away from Test cricket,

“I genuinely felt he had four to five years left to not just play, but to excel, because that’s who he is. Heading to Australia, his preferred setting, I am confident he will once again prove his worth,” Harbhajan said.

“We have witnessed him scoring numerous runs in those conditions before, and I trust he will replicate that success. The same sentiment applies to Rohit; I am excited about both these stalwarts heavily contributing to India’s victories,” Harbhajan added.

The seasoned cricketer further remarked that Kohli is likely to achieve two centuries during the ODI series, given his affinity for batting in Australia.

“Certain players elevate their game under pressure; Virat Kohli is one of those players. He excels during significant moments, which distinguishes him from others. He anticipates those big opportunities and high-stakes matches, showcasing why he’s a champion.

“Performing against elite teams earns respect, and he has garnered it, especially after his centuries in Australia and his commitment to leading the team. Those are the challenges he relishes. Australia is his favored battleground, and now he’s making his return after the IPL. I am truly eager to see him in these three ODIs, and I hope he secures at least two centuries for India,” Harbhajan concluded.
