Krunal Pandya Reflects on RCB's Positive Atmosphere and Leadership Dynamics
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, March 31 (NationPress) RCB all-rounder Krunal Pandya believes that the transparent environment within the squad has allowed them to cultivate a more relaxed and confident approach following their championship victory last season.
“This year, I sense a much more composed atmosphere. Last season, we were a new team, and everyone was getting acquainted. Now, numerous players are aware of their roles as well as each other's strengths and weaknesses,” he stated.
Krunal also praised captain Rajat Patidar for his leadership, saying, “Rajat has done an exceptional job leading such a significant franchise like RCB in his debut season. His leadership last year was particularly remarkable.”
He also expressed his confidence in wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma, stating, “A lot of credit goes to Jitesh behind the stumps. I feel very secure and trust him entirely because wherever I bowl, he will catch the ball.”
Krunal highlighted the fervor of RCB fans, which became evident to him shortly after joining the team, underscoring the deep connection between the players and their supporters.
“Last year, during our match against Chennai in the league stage, I noticed how passionate the fans are about the team and how much they want us to succeed. We must secure the trophy for our fans,” he remarked.
Krunal also spoke about the inspiration provided by Virat Kohli, stating, “Virat exemplifies the hunger and passion for the game. His desire for victory is palpable. Regardless of the era, he would still be considered one of the greats. He doesn’t compete with anyone else.”
Krunal, who was named Player of the Match in last year’s final, elaborated on his technique for handling pressure during critical moments, emphasizing the importance of being present.
“When I find myself in significant situations, I believe that if God has placed me here, there is a reason. Sometimes, I feel these moments are tailored for me. I feel the pressure, but I focus on remaining calm and present to execute what’s necessary,” he shared.
Krunal believes that sustaining a long career in sports hinges on adapting to the game's evolution.
“I've come to understand that to achieve longevity in any field, whether in sports or business, one must improve and evolve. You cannot remain static or hold onto the same mindset,” he added.
He also acknowledged the IPL's transformation over the years.
“The IPL has evolved significantly. The batting style in 2016 is vastly different from what it is forecasted to be in 2026. The Impact Player rule has greatly influenced the league in recent years, resulting in numerous high-scoring matches, making scores of 200 or 220 quite achievable. The focus has shifted from consistency to impact,” he explained.
“Ultimately, I’ve realized that the fundamentals of cricket have not changed. I am an instinctive player, but I ensure to conduct thorough research,” he noted.
Although he has found success in franchise cricket, Krunal regards playing for India as his ultimate aspiration.
“At the end of the day, nothing compares to representing your country. Whenever I had the chance, I felt I performed admirably in both T20s and ODIs. Even now, my primary goal is to don the national colors,” he emphasized.
He admitted that being away from the national team for an extended period has been tough.
“I am human, and it can be disheartening not to have played for the country for a while. However, it is a part of the journey, and I continue to focus on my responsibilities.”
