New Delhi, Sep 3 (NationPress) Deadline Day acquisition Brian Brobbey has expressed his enthusiasm after signing a five-year deal with Sunderland AFC. Brobbey made the move to the club following Marc Guiu's return to Stamford Bridge due to an injury to Liam Delap and the exit of Nicolas Jackson.
The Dutch attacker, only 23 years old, was among 15 players brought in during a hectic summer transfer window, joining from Ajax with a reputation as a formidable striker. He has already made eight appearances for the Netherlands national team, netting once at the senior level.
Upon confirmation of his transfer, Brobbey shared his initial thoughts on life in Wearside.
“It feels fantastic to be here. I’m with my entire family and we’ve already visited the stadium – it’s a magnificent ground, quite large, and it felt amazing to see it. I chose Sunderland because it’s a wonderful club, and naturally, the Premier League is the pinnacle for elite players. That’s why I wanted to join,” Brobbey explained.
The forward revealed what fans can anticipate from him in the red and white colors. “I’m a team player. I enjoy holding the ball to involve my teammates, and of course, I aim to score goals. I’ve competed at the top level in Europe and on the international stage, and I’m eager to bring all my experiences to Sunderland. I will dedicate my full energy to this club.”
Looking forward to stepping onto the Stadium of Light, Brobbey emphasized the significance of the supporters' passion.
“I’m excited about scoring many goals, but first and foremost, it’s about the energy. When the energy is right, everything else will follow.
“In a full Stadium of Light, I know I can gain a lot from the fans – their energy will drive me when I’m in front of the goal.”
