New Delhi, Nov 20 (NationPress) Rifle shooter Mahit Sandhu secured a silver medal in the 50m Prone event, marking her third medal at the ongoing 25th Summer Deaflympics held in Tokyo.

In an impressive display, Mahit established a new World Deaf Record during the qualification rounds, finishing with an outstanding score of 246.1 in the finals. Eliska Svobodova from Czechia clinched the gold with a score of 247.2, while Mira Zsuzsanna Biatovszki from Hungary took home the bronze with a score of 225.0. Another Indian competitor, Natasha Joshi, concluded her efforts in eighth place following a shoot-off.

During the finals, Mahit started in fourth place after 14 shots. She climbed to bronze after the subsequent two shots, surpassing Violeta Lykova of Ukraine. Maintaining her position until the 20-shot mark, Mahit shot scores of 9.8 and 10.2 in the next series. Despite a strong performance, she couldn't surpass Svobodova's final score, who also scored in the 10s.
