Mbappe Included in Real Madrid Roster for Intercontinental Cup Final

Madrid, Dec 16 (NationPress) Kylian Mbappe has been included in Real Madrid’s 24-man roster for the Intercontinental Cup. The French forward sustained a thigh injury during their UEFA Champions League match, where they achieved a 3-2 victory over Atlanta, and was substituted after scoring the opening goal.

The forward missed Real Madrid’s 3-3 draw against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday (IST) but has taken part in training sessions on both Sunday and Monday. He will be traveling with the team, although it remains uncertain whether he will be included in the starting lineup.

“Mbappe isn’t anything very serious. He won’t be there for the match [against Raya], but he will travel to Qatar to see if he can participate in the [Intercontinental Cup final] without taking any risks,” Ancelotti commented on Friday.

The reigning European champions, Real Madrid, are set to play against Pachuca in the final of the Intercontinental Cup on Wednesday at the Lusail Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

This tournament, which is organized by FIFA, commenced in September with a match between Al Ain, winners of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League 2023-2024, and Auckland City FC, winners of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League.

Al Ain, who fell short in match 2 against the Egyptian African Football Confederation (CAF) Champions League winners Al Ahly, managed to win. In Match 3, CF Pachuca, the CONCACAF Champions Cup winners, defeated Botafogo, the Conmebol Copa Libertadores champions. CF Pachuca overcame Al Ahly in a penalty shoot-out in match 4 and will now face Real Madrid for the title.
