Two-time Olympic champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo has been appointed International Event Ambassador for the Delhi Half Marathon 2026, organisers confirmed on 24 September 2026. The Bahamian sprint star will attend the 21st edition of the race at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, on 18 October, bringing global athletics prestige to one of India's most prominent distance-running events.

Who Is Shaunae Miller-Uibo

Miller-Uibo is among the most decorated 400m athletes in history, having won the women's 400m gold at both the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Her Tokyo triumph made her only the second woman ever — after France's Marie-José Perec — to successfully defend an Olympic 400m title. She clocked a North American record of 48.36 seconds in that final.

At the World Athletics Championships, she claimed 400m silver in 2015 and 2019 before finally securing the world title in Eugene in 2022 — a pursuit that spanned seven years. She also took 200m bronze at the 2017 World Championships, and her personal best of 21.74 seconds over 200m remains the Bahamian national record. She won the 200m at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and added a mixed 4x400m relay gold for The Bahamas at the World Athletics Relays.

She chased a World Athletics Championship title for years before finally claiming it, and that perseverance is exactly the message we want every runner on October 18 to carry with them,' he said.
