Monaco, July 1 (NationPress) – The French football club, AS Monaco, has officially confirmed the signing of Ansu Fati, the 22-year-old Spanish international forward, on loan from FC Barcelona for the 2025-2026 season, complete with an option to purchase.
Born on October 31, 2002, in Bissau (Guinea-Bissau), Ansu Fati relocated to Spain (Andalusia) at the age of six. He began his football journey at CDF Herrera, later joining Sevilla FC, and in 2012, he became a part of La Masia, the renowned training academy of FC Barcelona.
Fati made his professional debut for Barça on August 25, 2019, when he was just 16 years old. His remarkable talent quickly shone through in both La Liga and the Champions League. On December 10, during a match against Inter Milan, he scored the decisive goal, becoming, at 17 years and 40 days old, the youngest goal-scorer in the tournament's history.
At the end of the 2019-2020 season, he had played over 30 matches, scoring eight goals, and finished as the runner-up for the prestigious 2020 Golden Boy award, which honors the best under-21 player in Europe.
During his time at FC Barcelona, where he played in various attacking roles – including winger, attacking midfielder, and striker – he made 123 appearances, netting 29 goals and providing eight assists. His accolades include two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, and two Spanish Super Cups.
To further hone his skills, Ansu Fati was loaned to Brighton & Hove Albion for the 2023-2024 season. In the Premier League, he made 27 appearances, scoring four goals and assisting once.
Since making his international debut in 2020, Fati participated in the 2022 World Cup and was a key member of the Spanish team that triumphed in the 2023 Nations League.
This season marks Ansu Fati's debut in Ligue 1 with AS Monaco, significantly bolstering the club's attacking lineup. Recently, the Ligue 1 team has also welcomed Paul Pogba and Eric Dier into their ranks.
