The Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) T20 Scindia Cup 2026 officially kicked off its pre-season on Monday, 25 May, as jerseys for all 10 men's franchises and five women's teams were unveiled at a grand ceremony held at Taj Lakefront, Bhopal. The colourful launch signals the start of what organisers describe as the largest edition of the MPL in the league's history.

Jerseys Rooted in Regional Identity

Each of the 15 franchises presented uniquely designed kits that draw from the culture, geography, and wildlife heritage of their respective regions. Franchise names such as Bhopal Leopards, Chambal Ghariyals, Gwalior Shernis, Royal Nimar Eagles, and Ujjain Falcons take direct inspiration from the animals and birds native to Madhya Pradesh's forests, national parks, and biodiversity corridors — a deliberate effort to deepen the bond between clubs, fans, and the state's natural identity.

What the Organisers Said

MPCA president Mahanaaryaman Scindia called the unveiling 'the beginning of another exciting chapter' for the league. 'The MPL has grown into much more than just a cricket tournament — it has become a true celebration of emerging talent and the passion for cricket across Madhya Pradesh,' he said. Scindia added that the jerseys 'beautifully reflect the unique identity, culture, and regional pride of the teams they represent, creating a stronger connection between the players, the fans, and their cities.'

MPL CEO Ravi Patankar echoed those sentiments, noting that the league is 'not only creating exciting cricketing opportunities for youngsters but is also strengthening the sporting culture of Madhya Pradesh by bringing together fans, players, and communities through the spirit of the game.'

Tournament Structure and New Franchises

The men's competition has expanded to 10 teams with the addition of three new franchises — Malwa Stallions, Ujjain Falcons, and Royal Nimar Eagles. They join defending champions Bhopal Leopards alongside Bundelkhand Bulls, Chambal Ghariyals, Gwalior Cheetahs, Indore Pink Panthers, Jabalpur Royal Lions, and Rewa Jaguars.

The women's tournament grows to five teams with the inclusion of Gwalior Shernis and Royal Nimar Eagles, who join existing sides Bhopal Wolves, Bundelkhand Bulls, and Chambal Ghariyals.

Key Fixtures and Schedule

The men's competition opens on 3 June with Gwalior Cheetahs facing Ujjain Falcons at Holkar Stadium, Indore at 7:30 PM IST. The women's tournament follows on 4 June, with Chambal Ghariyals taking on Gwalior Shernis at Daly College, Indore. The expanded format makes MPL 2026 the biggest edition the league has staged to date.
