New Delhi, May 16 (NationPress) The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) India successfully hosted the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Intelligence & Investigations (I&I) Workshop, which concluded recently on Friday.
This five-day gathering, held under the auspices of WADA in collaboration with INTERPOL and Sport Integrity Australia, attracted delegates from various National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs) and law enforcement agencies from nations such as India, Indonesia, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines, as well as officials from the South Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organization.
Supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, the event aimed to unite intelligence and investigations specialists globally to exchange insights, bolster cooperation, and enhance the worldwide anti-doping framework.
Throughout the workshop, participants participated in in-depth sessions covering intelligence operations, investigative methodologies, confidential source management, open-source research, and analytical interviewing techniques.
These sessions highlighted the necessity of proactive and coordinated strategies to protect athletes and maintain the integrity of sports.
Anant Kumar, Director General of NADA India, remarked, "NADA India is privileged to have hosted WADA, INTERPOL, Sport Integrity Australia, and our regional counterparts during this workshop. The knowledge acquired and the relationships built will significantly contribute to developing our intelligence and investigation capabilities in the region."
Günter Younger, Director of Intelligence and Investigations at WADA, shared his gratitude for the opportunity to be in India for the workshop under the Intelligence & Investigations Capability and Capacity Building Project in Asia and Oceania.
"I am pleased with the progress we have achieved in this region and am confident that it will significantly impact the protection of clean sport both here and globally," he said.
This workshop was an integral part of the Capability and Capacity Building Project, aimed at reinforcing WADA’s Global Anti-Doping Intelligence and Investigations Network (GAIIN) and enhancing international collaboration to improve the effectiveness of anti-doping measures worldwide. A follow-up workshop is scheduled to take place in India in July 2025.
